Andrew Lewis is a Principal of Better
Negotiation LLC in New York, providing advisory services in negotiation and
relationship management.
He helps clients improve business results by building
individual and organizational expertise in negotiating and managing critical
business relationships, whether they are external (with clients, customers,
suppliers or alliance partners) or internal. Much of his work involves advising
senior executives on effective negotiation and conflict resolution strategies,
using ideas developed and pioneered at the Harvard Negotiation Project.
Mr. Lewis consults to clients across many
industry sectors, including financial services, professional services,
healthcare, and technology. He facilitates over 100 seminars a year to
audiences around the globe. In recent years he has advised clients in English,
French and Spanish, in the United States, Mexico, Canada, 8 countries in
Western and Eastern Europe, the United Arab Emirates, China, India and South
Africa.
Previously, Mr. Lewis was a senior
consultant at a consulting spin-off of the Harvard Negotiation Project, where
he led the design and delivery of training and consulting services in
negotiation and relationship management. He managed relationships with some of
the firm’s biggest clients, responsible for overseeing negotiation advisory
work across entire business divisions. On behalf of a large financial services
company, he ran a 2-day mediation between a senior client team and a key
client, resulting in a decision to continue the contract and a strengthened
relationship. He also ran a train-the-trainer program for a large medical
devices company, training 15 senior sales executives to lead internal
negotiation workshops for an entire division’s sales force.
Mr. Lewis has held positions in change
management and organizational learning at Goldman Sachs. He was an internal
consultant and project manager for a major internal reorganization of some of
the firm’s back office functions. He later took on responsibility for the
design and delivery of management training programs, focusing on such areas as
change management, process re-engineering, leadership, and conflict resolution.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Lewis consulted
at a boutique firm on the human capital aspects of large change initiatives,
including reorganizations and post-merger integrations. His clients included
Fortune 500 companies in the financial services, professional services, and
pharmaceuticals sectors, as well as major public sector organizations such as
the British Civil Service and the European Commission.
He has worked at Procter & Gamble in
brand management, where he helped launch a new laundry and cleaning products
business in France.
Mr. Lewis is a dual British/American citizen
who has lived in Belgium, France, Spain, the UK and the US. He holds a BA in
Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.
